HISTORY OF HA NOI CAPITAL

History of Ha Noi capital, northern Red River region of Vietnam. In 1010, King Ly Cong Uan moved the capital from Co Loa to the capital city of Thang Long or the capital of Ha Noi today. On the way from Co Loa to Hanoi, King Ly Cong Uan suddenly saw a golden dragon flying up. King Ly Cong Uan felt this was a good omen and henceforth gave the name of the new capital city named Thang Long. That means the dragon soars.

From 1010 to 1831 before the name Ha Noi, the capital of Thang Long had many different names. And almost all of the feudal dynasties of Vietnam, undergoing many down and ups of history and also spent many kings and rulers of the country, also in Thang Long - Ha Noi. On 12/22/1788 after the battle of Ngoc Hoi - Đong Đa, King Nguyen Hue ascended the throne to select Phu Xuan - Hue as the new citadel that ruled Đai Viet country. Thang Long citadel became the capital of the north, the northern region of Vietnam today.

Despite this, King Nguyen Hue reigned over Dai Viet Kingdom for a short time when Nguyen Anh overthrew the Tay Son brothers and officially ascended the throne in 1802 and named King Gia Long as the first king of the dynasty.
