HISTORY OF SAIGON CITY

Saigon, from the 1790s under the reign of Lord Nguyen Phuc Anh, built the citadel and named it as Bat Quai and Thanh Quy citadels. After the revolt of Le Van Khoi. Adopted by Le Van Duyet, in 1836 under the reign of King Minh Mang of the Nguyen Dynasty broke the Bat Quai Citadel and rebuilt another. 

In 1836, after the citadel was built, King Minh Mang named it Thanh Phuong or Gia Dinh citadel. Gia Dinh citadel existed from 1836 to 1859 when it was destroyed by the French colonialists. Before 1975 it was called Saigon City. On April 30, 1975, after a tank of the southern liberation army collapsed an independent palace gate. The end of the war divided north and south from 1954 to April 30th, 1975. 

Saigon, the most populous city in Vietnam. The city is dynamic and also called the city that never sleeps. Saigon was once called the pearl of the far east. Under the reign of Lord Nguyen Phuc Chu, Mr. Nguyen Huu Canh was sent to the south to expand the country. Nguyen Huu Canh founded the Saigon 1698. The name Saigon has appeared over 300 years. On July 2, 1976 the city of Saigon officially changed its name to Ho Chi Minh City after the Chairman Ho Chi Minh.

Ho Chi Minh, born May 19, 1890 and died September 2, 1969. Chairman Ho Chi Minh's hometown is Kim Lien village, Nam Dan District, Nghe An Province in the north central region of Vietnam.  Although Saigon's name was changed to Ho Chi Minh City on July 2, 1976. But the name Saigon is still used anytime and anywhere.

Counted by the number from District 1 to District 12. After 1945, the French colonists returned to invade Vietnam called the Indochina war.
